LTOAPF & Registration Processing Seminar

The Association of Firearms & Ammunition Dealers of the Philippines Inc. (AFAD), in partnership with the Philippine National Police Civil Security Group (CSG) & the Firearms & Explosives Office (FEO) held a seminar last September 9 on the processing of the License to Own and Possess Firearm & Registration to prepare its members for the upcoming Defense & Sporting Arms Show slated this November at the SM Megamall, Mandaluyong City.

In attendance were owners and staff from various AFAD member dealers which filled the entire Aguirre Hall of the PNP Multipurpose Hall where the event was held. Also present to show their support for the AFAD event and serve as resource persons were officers from the PNP including P/Chief Supt. Moro Virgilio Lazo, Chief, FEO, P/Sr. Supt. Edwin Jose Nemenzo, CDS, CSG, P/Sr. Supt. Gabriel Lopez, Chief, EMD, P/Sr. Supt. Ferdinand Daway, Chief, FEO-EEMB, P/Sr. Supt. Rolando Anduyan, Chief, FEO-FLD, P/Supt. Eddie Alejandro, Deputy, Directorate for Intelligence, P/Supt. Ariel Ayusip, Chief, Fingerprint Identification Div., Crime Lab (CL), P/Chief Insp. Victor Drapete, Chief, Chemistry Div., CL, P/Chief Insp. Alfredo Abayon, Chief, FEO-Computer Section and P/Insp. Joseph Distor, Health Service, Neuro.

The program was led by AFAD Vice President Jocelyn Gutierrez-Jose and assisted by Membership Committee Chair, JM Reyes which started at 9 in the morning until 2pm. The event opened with a prayer led by Mrs. Lovi Castro followed by the welcoming remarks from the President of AFAD, Mr. Jethro T. Dionisio. Sr. Supt. Lopez who represented P/Chief Supt. Mabilin, Director, CSG delivered the Director’s regrets for missing the event due to the PNP-FEO LTOAPF caravan in Clark, Pampanga and relayed the Director’s support for the AFAD initiative. After the opening remarks, the stage was turned over to the representatives from the various PNP offices involved in the process of acquiring an LTOAPF (and the requirements needed) took turns to brief the members about their the objective of their respective offices, the process involved with each clearance and took the time to address questions and concerns from those in attendance.

With most of the morning taken up by the presentations and the early part of the question and answer portion, the assembly decided to take a break to enjoy the lunch prepared by AFAD which the PNP officers shared with the members of the Association. After lunch, the discussion resumed with another segment of the question and answer part of the program which was initially presided by Chief Supt. Lazo and later on by Sr. Supt. Anduyan when the Chief, FEO had to leave for another appointment. The event came to a close at 2 in the afternoon with a reminder that AFAD will be assisting with two LTOAPF caravans to help bring the licensing process closer to their clients and that each member of the Association is highly encouraged to inform their clients about this opportunity.
